Youth receive awards for their contribution to their community of Bradford on Avon

FOUR ‘outstanding’ young people from Bradford on Avon received awards for their contribution to the local community.

Bradford-on-Avon Lions Club President Brian Hersee presented the awards at a ceremony at Cumberwell Park Golf Club on Wednesday, September 18.

The first two Gold Award winners were Joseph Pearce and Megan Longley, who received engraved trophies and a cash prize of £ 100.

The first two Silver Award winners were Izzy Geddes and Helen Morrison, who received engraved trophies and cash prizes of £ 50.

Lions spokesperson Phil Courage said they wanted to do something to recognize and reward the contribution of the city’s youth.

It could be in any field, community work, volunteering, health care or athletic achievement.

Representatives of the organizations that made the nominations read their quotes.

Phil Courage said: “It was a very difficult task to choose the winners because all of these young people are committed to improving the lives of others.

“In the end, we decided to give away two gold and two silver. It certainly gives hope for the future knowing that we have such positive young people in our community.”

The Lions Club will be looking for groups to nominate young people from the municipality for the 2020 awards.
