AVON, CT – The City of Avon has partnered with Webster Bank and its vault payment services.
Tax payments can be mailed to Webster Bank – who will process the payment – and each evening send the tax collector an electronic payment file which will be posted the following morning.
The advantage is that the municipality’s tax receipts processed during the day are paid into the municipality’s account the same evening.
Taxpayers will find with the tax bill a “return payment envelope” addressed to the City of Avon, PO Box 847500, Boston, MA 02284-7500.
They can simply write a check (made out to the City of Avon), include the payment stub or stubs of bills being paid, apply postage, and mail your payment.
Taxpayers are reminded not to deposit their taxes at the local branch of Webster Bank.
The new mailbox service is the city’s preferred method for accepting payments via US Mail because it will speed up processing of your payments.
However, the city will continue to accept payments by mail at the City of Avon offices (60 W. Main St.), in person, or through the drop box located outside the Revenue Collector’s office (Building #2).
Avon also continues to encourage taxpayers to pay online using a credit card or electronic check or by phone (888-332-0286).
